Many people ask me why I named my business Unbound Web Creations. Well, I like the idea of living life unbound from constraint.
Today, I’m going to share some of the things that I do, the ways in which I work through what life throws my way, and for my increasing need for inner peace. I hope you can incorporate these tools into your life too, so that you may enjoy the life you create to the fullest.
Here are my toolbox of 7 ways to Cultivate an Unbound Life
You will notice a couple of references to business – I just can’t help it – I enjoy what I do and do what I love. That is the mark of a lifestyle business that doesn’t feel like a job, but rather an extension of myself.
The points below are simple strategies that can be incorporated into your life and if you fail from time to time, that’s OK too. Getting up and trying harder next time is key.
1. Take Responsibility
Our actions determine our success, whether we like it or not. Successful people acknowledge their roles in the outcome of their decisions. They own up to their mistakes and avoid making the same mistake next time around. They don’t shift the blame onto other people, but rather look inward for the solutions.
Gandhi said that we should “… be the change you want to see in the world.“
Tip: Don’t wait around waiting for changes – MAKE them.
2. Adjust
Life is ever-evolving. What was one way yesterday, may very well be different tomorrow. Years ago, people used ink and feathers to hand write letters that took weeks to reach their destination. Here I am typing this on my laptop, and you will be reading this post in a matter of minutes – probably from the other side of the world. That is how fast things change.
If you don’t open yourself up to adjusting to trends, you are going to be left behind.
Tip: Go with the flow. Be willing to reinvent yourself and gain the skills needed in this ever-evolving world.
3. Go the Extra Mile
Successful people are always ready to challenge themselves and will go the extra mile to learn more, achieve more, and become more. They are more than their job description.
Tip: Do a little more, take on a bit extra than what is asked of you. Believe me – it counts!
4. Have Tangible Goals
Do you wake up with day planned based on your goals? If you don’t, you are probably scrambling around, hoping for a miracle that will set you on the path towards your goal. I don’t have to tell you that your strategy is not ideal.
Tip: Create huge, but obtainable goals based on your strengths and invest your efforts into those goals.
5. Accept Failure
We all fail and make mistakes from time to time. Many successful inventors failed often. Success doesn’t necessarily come easy and if you try more, you will fail more, but in the end you will succeed as you continue to learn and grow from each failure. Successful people know how to persevere.
Tip: After a failure, sit back and consider where you might have gone wrong and what you can change next time around. Plan a little better, put in a little more effort, learn from your mistakes, and try again.
6. Use Your Intuition
Intuition is a powerful tool in life and in business. Strong intuition can help you make difficult choices when there are powerful opposing forces pulling you in different directions. It can help you to make decisions when you don’t have all the facts in front of you and minimize for fear of failure which can affect you worse in the end. Don’t wait to do something until it is too late.
Tip: Trust intuition to be your guiding light.
7. Let It Go
You have to know when to hold on and when to let go. Whether it’s a relationship, a business, an idea, or an entry on your to-do list. If it’s not lifting you, it is dragging you down. Sometimes this can be our own thoughts.
Tip: Forgive, forget, let go, and make a point of only engaging in relationships, activities, or conversations that are in line with the person you want to be.
There you have it: My list of 7 strategies to help you build an unbound life. When you start to incorporate them in every area of your life or business, you will feel free to explore this adventure we call life.
